Kyambogo- Uganda: Kyambogo University in Uganda in conjuction with the Central International College, USA is set to host a high-profile public lecture on global inter- University partnerships to reshape the global north -south research collaborations
Under the inaugural Future Is Global project, a pioneering initiative aimed at fostering strategic partnerships between Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) and Ugandan institutions, the public lecture will take place on May 5, 2025 at the University.
The lecture, scheduled in the NPT Conference Room at Kyambogo University and via Zoom, will be delivered by renowned academic Prof. Karim Abdul Bangura, who holds five PhDs across multiple disciplines. Moderating the discussion will be Dr. Irene Nagasha of KyambogoUniversity.
The Future Is Global program seeks to strengthen inter-university collaborations between institutions in the Global North and South, fostering knowledge exchange, research collaborations, and pathways for students to study abroad.
According to Dr. Judith Nagasha, the program aims to facilitate dialogue between HBCU international advisors and their Ugandan counterparts to enhance capacity-building efforts and equitable research initiatives.

About Prof Bangura
Professor Abdul Karim Bangura is a distinguished scholar with an impressive academic background, holding five PhDs in Mathematics, Comuter Science, Political Science, Development Economics, and Linguistics
He serves as the president of the African Studies & Research Forum (ASRF) and mentors doctoral candidates through the CODESRIA College of Mentors in Dakar, Senegal. Additionally, he is the director of The African Institution in Washington, DC, and has held esteemed academic positions at institutions worldwide, including the University of Cabo Verde, Plekhanov Russian University, the University of Peshawar, and the Centro Cultural Guanin in the Dominican Republic.

Bangura is a prolific researcher and theorist, having developed numerous educational and communication theories, including Ubuntugogy Educational Theory, the Broad Theory of Meaning, and several methodologies aimed at understanding African and global knowledge systems. His work spans multiple disciplines, emphasizing sustainability, peace paradigms, and African epistemology. His interdisciplinary approach has cemented his reputation as an influential thinker in academia.
As an author and editor, Bangura has contributed significantly to scholarly literature, with 106 books and over 710 academic articles to his name. His work has been widely recognized, earning him more than 50 prestigious awards. These honours include the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award, the Cecil B. Curry Book Award for his contributions to African Mathematics and accolades for his research on ethnic and religious conflict resolution, as well as peaceful interethnic relations.
Beyond academia, Bangura’s influence extends to international diplomacy and policy advisory roles. He has addressed the United Nations General Assembly, served as President and UN Ambassador for the Association of Third World Studies, and acted as a Special Envoy for the African Union Peace and Security Council. His expertise in conflict resolution and governance has made him a vital figure in shaping discussions on peace and development.
Fluent in numerous African and European languages, Bangura continues to expand his linguistic proficiency, studying Arabic, Hebrew, and Hieroglyphics. His work as theditor-in-chiefef of the Journal of Living Together showcases his commitment to fostering scholarly discussions on peace and conflict resolution. His contributions to academia, global policy, and intercultural dialogue exemplify his dedication to intellectual and societal progress.
